On arrival, transfer to Bwindi impenetrable with a stopover at the equator for craft shopping and photos having an enroute in Mbarara for lunch continue and embark on a beautiful journey to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale district passing through the beautiful terraced hills of Kigezi highlands checking in at Bweza lodge for the night. Meal pan; breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Bwindi is a home to almost half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas, 326 bird species. Bwindi is the bird watcher’s heaven! Over 90% of the 326 bird species are rift valley endemics which are difficult to be seen anywhere in east Africa and over 7 IUCN red listed species. Gorillas are the world’s largest living primate and most endangered apes. They cannot survive in captivity and that’s why they cannot be found in the zoo. Have an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing and embark on an adventurous journey of gorilla trekking in the forest. Move to the forest for Gorilla tracking after breakfast. Return to the lodge for lunch and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi checking in at Bunyonyi eco lodge. Meal plan; breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Enjoy a morning canoe ride to visit the 29 islands after breakfast, one of the islands is the punishment island where young girls who got pregnant before marriage would be dumped to die. Each island has its own story attached to it, return to the lodge and check out and transfer to Entebbe with a lunch enroute in Mbarara and a stopover at Mpambire village for a drum making experience. Here you will visit the drum makers who will show you the different kinds of drums and their uses.
